Guilford lays down the Law

Michael Jacobson had two goals and an assist to lead the Guilford boys' soccer team to a 7-0 victory over Law Monday in a Southern Connecticut Conference Hammonasset Division game.

Matt Feldman had a goal and had two assists and Dan Reiss a goal and an assist for the Indians (14-1-1).

Goalkeeper Lonny Quarford made 10 saves for the Lawmen (0-14-1).

North Haven 1, Wilbur Cross 0: Keegan Hanlon scored in the 76th minute to give North Haven its Southern Connecticut Conference Oronoque victory. Kevin Anderson had the assist and Chris Musco made four daves for the Indians (4-8-4).

Gallermo Prata made six saves for Wilbur Cross (2-12).

Coginchaug 6, Haddam-Killingworth 1: Eric Reilly and Mike Quirk each had two assists to help host Coginchaug to its Shoreline Conference win.

Erikson Wasyl, Andrew Makoski, Luke Denzek, Mike Sbona, Kyle Dupre and Ryan Sirois scored for Coginchaug (8-6-2).

Brandon Ticino scored on a penalty kick and Tre Davis made seven saves for Haddam-Killingworth (2-10-4).

Girls' soccer

Platt Tech 1, Vinal Tech 0: Julia Navarro scored in the 37th minute to give Platt Tech its Central Connecticut Conference victory in Milford. Kristen Carr made five saves for the Panthers (7-7-2).

Mariah Hewitt made 19 saves for Vinal Tech.

Guilford 3, West Haven 1: Courtney Miller scored a pair of first-half goals to lead the Indians to the SCC victory.

Hannah Moore also scored for Guilford (8-6-1). Kara Piper scored for West Haven (8-7-1).

Sacred Heart Academy 4, Lyman Hall 0: Kerry Doyle and Ashley Wendland each had a goal and an assist to lead Sacred Heart to its SCC interdivision win at Wallingford.

Lauren Destito and Hannah Koniski also scored for Sacred Heart (10-4-2), which tied a school record for wins.

Lindsay Morgan made six saves for Lyman Hall (2-13).

Field hockey

Hand 5, Branford 3: Emily Jablonski scored three goals, all in the second half, and added an assist to lead the Tigers to the SCC victory in Madison.

Shaelin Gottlick added a goal and assist for Hand (13-1-1, 9-0). Kristina Ruotolo scored all three goals for Branford (13-2, 8-1).

Guilford 1, Hamden 0: Katie Jolin scored in the first half and Cathryn Mahoney made 16 saves to preserve the shutout for host Guilford in the SCC game.

Colleen Murphy made 23 saves for the Green Dragons (9-4-2-1,6-3-0-1). The Indians are 8-6, 7-2.

Haddam-Killingworth 1, Stonington 0: Emily Anderson scored on an assist by Marina Annino to give Haddam-Killingworth its non-league victory. Haddam-Killingworth is 11-3-0-1.

Julie Rayer made seven saves for Stonington (11-2-1).

North Branford 1, Morgan 0: Kirsten Kilburn scored on a Stephanie Siorentino assist to give host North Branford its Shoreline Conference win.

Sara Robertson made seven saves for the shutout for North Branford (10-1-2).

Melissa Vincellette made 18 saves for Morgan (5-10).

Sacred Heart Academy 1, Sheehan 1 (OT): Kelsey Higgins scored on an Missy Copas assist to tie the game for Sacred Heart in an SCC game at Wallingford. Brittany Anderson made 14 saves for Sacred Heart (2-11-2, 2-7-1).

Liz Kado scored on an assist from Aimie Angeletti in the first half and Marissa Poplawski made 10 saves for Sheehan (7-6-2, 2-6-2).

Girls' volleyball

Guilford 3, Foran 0: Kelly-Ann Rooney had 14 digs and six service points to lead fifth-seeded Guilford in the quarterfinals of the SCC tournament at Milford.

Annie Goodrich had 27 assists and Annie Snedegar 13 kills and 10 service points for the fourth-seeded Indians, who won 25-23, 25-15 and a remarkable 35-33 in the third game.

Sage Esposito had 26 assists and six digs, Nicole Weichner 14 kills and Melissa Manning nine kills for the Lions.

Bunnell 3, Stratford 1: Top-seeded Bunnell defeated host No. 8 Stratford 25-14, 24-26, 25-20, 25-21 to advance in the opening round of the South-West Conference tournament.

For Bunnell (14-5), Erynn Miller had 16 kills, Alex Hudak six kills and Anne Guglielmoni six digs.

Brittany Handahl led Stratford (10-9) with five aces and nine kills, Barbara Fontes had eight kills and Manushaqe Masufi eight kills and six blocks.
