The Tick-Borne Alliance said its fundraising walk and road race at Sherwood Island State Park Sunday raised more than $35,000 to combat Lyme disease and other tick-borne illnesses.

Proceeds from the group's "Bite Back for a Cure Walk/Run" brought to more than $155,000 the total it has raised for research, the alliance said in a news release.

The nonprofit alliance said it is dedicated to raising awareness, promoting advocacy and supporting initiatives to find a cure for tick-borne diseases, including Lyme disease.
