The Greens Farms Academy field hockey team (5-10) defeated Hamden Hall, 4-3, and lost 6-2 to Choate last week.

Against Hamden Hall, Margot Bruder scored the first goal for GFA and the game-winner which broke a 3-3 tie with 40 seconds remaining in the game.

CJ Rummelsburg and Hayley Holzinger also scored for the Dragons. Madison Leonard (Westport) had two assists and Olivia Taylor had one assist.

Bruder and Rummelsburg scored goals against Choate. Holzinger and Maggie Sherin (Weston) each had assists. Sherin was stellar in the midfield alongside Holzinger and Leonard.


The GFA volleyball team (13-5) defeated New York School for the Deaf (NYSD), Christian Heritage, and Harvey, all by 3-0 scores.

GFA had 15 aces against NYSD and senior Kiera Wood led the way with 15 service points. Against Christian Heritage, Brooke Cirillo closed out the first game with 17 straight service points, 10 aces in a 25-3 decision.

Claire Comey (Westport) led the attack with 10 kills. Rachel Schwimmer (Westport) led the back row's 29 cumulative digs with six. Senior setter Sarah MacDonell (Westport) had 15 assists.

In GFA's victory over Harvey, the Dragons were led by MacDonell with 20 assists, nine kills and five aces.

GFA had 40 kills with Laura Reul pounding out 12, followed by Sarah Young with eight.

The Dragons served a season high 21 aces led by Cirillo and Comey with seven each. The back-row defense of Schwimmer, Cirillo and junior Annie Flecha-Hirsch (Weston) was stellar.

The GFA boys soccer team (6-7-3) ended its regular season with a 6-0 loss to Millbrook.

Goalkeepers Ryan Friend and Seth Krantzler both came up with tough saves and played well while facing numerous scoring chances. Brendan Bieder, Van Barnet, Ryan Eckert, Spencer Hartig, Anders Forfang and Griffin Garner (Westport) had notable games for the Dragons.

Girls soccer

The GFA girls soccer team defeated The Masters School 4-1 this past week. Phebe Wong, Hilary Shannon, Caroline Vanacore and Olivia Lennon scored goals for the Dragons.

Wong, Emily Caldwell, Blair Pelley and Tia Carson (Westport) each had assists.

GFA's defense was led by Kate Tomlinson and Sam Brown as well as goalie Caroline Kruk. Georgie Garner (Westport), Pelley and Caldwell were also strong in the victory.
