Westport's two candidates for first selectman -- Democrat Helen Garten and Republican Jim Marpe -- will talk about local business growth during a program Friday afternoon, Sept. 27, at the Westport Library.

Sponsored by the Westport-Weston Chamber of Commerce, the program is from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the library's McManus Room.

Seating is limited and those planning to attend should register in advance.

Lisa Parrelli Gray, the chamber's president, will moderate the discussion, which will include a question-and-answer segment with the candidates.

Garten and Marpe will square off in the Nov. 5 election to succeed First Selectman Gordon Joseloff, who is not seeking reelection.

"This will be a unique opportunity for businesses of all sizes to get to know the candidates and how they plan to interact, represent, and support Westport's important business constituency in the future," Gray said in a news release.

Attendees may bring their own lunch. Cookies and beverages will be provided.

To register, call the Westport-Weston Chamber of Commerce at 203-227-9234.
