Greens Farms Academy began its fall sports season last week. Below is a roundup of its teams.
Against Wooster, the Dragons fired 21 shots in the first half. junior midfielder Caroline Vanacore, scored from classmate Phebe Wong in the first half. In the second half, Wong scored from senior captain Emily Caldwell, and Vanacore scored from junior Blair Pelley.
Seniors Kate Tomlinson and Sam Brown led the defense. Sophomore Caroline Kruk and junior Meghan Donovan (Westport) split time at goalie. Also contributing were junior Meighan Grady, sophomore Rachel Cohen (Westport) and freshmen Olivia Lennon and Campbell Goldsmith.
Vanacore scored from sophomore Hilary Shannon. Shannon scored from sophomore Tia Carson (Westport). Sophomores Georgie Garner (Westport) and Cole Vanacore played great defense and were backed up by Kruk and Donovan. Junior Kiki Kauffman also played key minutes.
The GFA boys soccer team lost two 5-2 to Cheshire Academy and 5-1 to Trinity Pawling to open the season. Junior Spencer Hartig tallied both GFA goals. Classmates Clay Garner (Westport), and Ryan Eckert, along with senior Sebastian deGoeijen and sophomore John Lawrence all played well defensively, as did juniors Anders Forfang and Charles Salmans. Senior captain Harry Garland (Westport) helped spark the midfield along with sophomore Brendan Bieder, freshman Griffin Garner (Westport), and junior Munir Qaddourah.
Against Trinity Pawling, sophomore Brendan Bieder scored GFA's lone tally on a penalty kick. The midfield of Bieder, Qaddourah, Griffin Garner, Garland, Salmans all played well. Hartig spearheaded the attack while Clay Garner, Lawrence and junior goalkeeper Ryan Friend led the defense.

The GFA field hockey team blanked St. Luke's, 2-0 in its home opener.
Junior captain Madison Leonard (Westport) assisted on both goals. Classmate Liz McDermott and sophomore Hayley Holzinger scored for the Dragons. Margot Bruder and Caitlin Rummelsburg also had assists.
Sophomore Maggie Sherin controlled the center of the field and senior captain Isabelle Canaan led the defense. Junior Ashley Hutchison (Westport) and freshman Hope Tierney were stellar on defense in front of freshman goalie Jenny Ross (five saves).
The GFA girls volleyball team went 1-1 to start the season.
GFA lost 3-0 (27-25, 25-18, 25-23) to Convent of the Sacred Heart and defeated Marianapolis Prep 3-2. Against Convent, junior Brooke Cirillo and senior Lucy Hoffman led the backline. The frontline attack was led by senior Kiera Wood and junior Sarah Young. Senior setter Sarah MacDonell (Westport) had an outstanding game with 18 assists and demonstrated great leadership on the floor.
Against Marianapolis, GFA won the fifth game, 15-12. Young (10 kills, four aces) and MacDonell (16 assists, four aces) paced the Dragons. Wood (five kills, four digs) ended the match on a kill through a double block. The backline of Hoffman, Cirillo and junior Rachel Schwimmer (Westport) combined for 11 digs with Cirillo adding four aces.
