George Edward Classy, 77, of Fairfield, husband of the late Frieda Classy, died May 1, 2010, at home.

Born in Bridgeport, a graduate of Bullard Havens Technical School, Classy was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War, during which he achieved the rank of staff sergeant.

Prior to his retirement in 1993, he worked for many years as a foreman in the Engineering Model Shop at Norden Systems. Classy was an avid Ham Radio operator.

He is survived by his mother, Mary Classy Satmary of Fairfield; a son, Michael Classy and his wife, Candace of Fairfield; two daughters, Ann Classy Acton and her husband, Timothy of St. Augustine, Fla., and Gale McCann of Bridgeport; and eight grandchildren, Erin and Kelly Acton of St. Augstine, Fla., Caitlin, Rebecca and Cody McCann of Bridgeport, Steven and James Classy of Fairfield and Sam Classy of Michigan.

Friends are invited to attend a funeral service at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 5, at the Shaughnessey Banks Funeral Home, 50 Reef Road, Fairfield; interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will take place on tomorrow, May 4, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
