Jeffrey R. Immelt, chairman and CEO of General Electric Co., headquartered in Fairfield, will talk about recent developments at the nation's ninth-largest company and assess the economy at a meeting of the Y's Men of Westport Weston on Thursday morning, Jan. 22, at the Unitarian Church in Westport.

The meeting at the 10 Lyons Plains Road church begins with coffee and doughnuts at 9:45 a.m., and Immelt's talk is scheduled at 10:30, the group said.

A graduate of Dartmouth College and Harvard Business School, Immelt joined GE in 1982 and succeeded the legendary Jack Welch as chairman and CEO in 2001. He has been named one of the World's Best CEOs three times by Barron's, the financial newspaper.
