Two friends from Westport have teamed up to make a party out of helping girls look their best.
Merrill Boehmer, a personal chef who grew up in Westport, and Catherine Ianelli, an esthetician originally from Hudson Valley, N.Y., in the spring co-founded spa & sprinkles, a business that gives manicures, pedicures and facials to girls 5 to 15 while offering cupcake decoration, nutritious foods and other items.
Party packages for 10 to 12 guests, priced at $675, include, among other things, invitations and envelopes, party decorations, cupcake decoration, manicures, pedicures, meal options and a smoothie bar. The parties take place at clients' homes in Fairfield and Westchester counties.
Ianelli is a graduate of Marist College in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., with a bachelor of arts degree in fashion merchandising. She was an intern to the beauty director at Seventeen magazine before studying esthetics at New York's Atelier Esthetique Institute to become licensed in skin care. She later founded Farm Couture, a boutique skin-care company focusing on luxury facial products sold at the Westport and Rowayton farmers markets.
Merrill, a graduate of Tulane University in New Orleans, has been a corporate event planner for almost 15 years and recently started her own personal chef services company, Cooking-In. She is also the chef at A Better Chance in Westport.
Ianelli is in charge of the "spa" part of the event, while Boehmer handles cupcake decoration, food and drinks and the smoothie bar. They employ Boemher's niece to help with the crafts.
