People approaching retirement or those with loved ones who are can meet privately with a Social Security expert during a free program Thursday evening, Feb. 12 at the Westport Library.

The program is from 6 to 8 p.m. in the library's McManus Room, and attendees may meet with a retirement-planning expert who can explain benefits and the application process, library officials said.

Reservations for 15-minute appointments are required, library officials said. They may be made online by visiting, going to the event description and clicking on the registration link.

Participants may reserve more than one session, and appointments will be made on a first-come, first-served basis.

Appointments will be with one of five financial-services professionals who are retiurement experts, library officials said.
