Former Westporter and New York magazine reporter Gabriel Sherman will speak about his bestselling book, "The Loudest Voice in the Room: How The Brilliant, Bombastic Roger Ailes Built Fox News -- And Divided A Country," on Tuesday, March 4, at the Westport Library.

The 7 p.m. talk will focus on Fox News and the life of its combative, visionary founder, Roger Ailes.

Sherman chronicles Ailes's rise as a sickly child from an Ohio factory town into a formidable power to sway politics and has become an influential force in conservative American politics.

Sherman is a contributing editor at New York magazine. His writing also has appeared in The New York Times, The New Republic, The New York Observer and GQ, among other publications. He has served as a commentator on National Public Radio, CNN, Fox News, MSNBC's Morning Joe, NBC's Today show and ABC's World News.

Since 2012, he has been a Bernard L. Schwartz Fellow at the New America Foundation. Books will be available for purchase and signing at the program, which is free and open to the public.
