Field of Flags, nearly 6,000 American flags are being placed on the church's great lawn on Friday, June 18, throughout the day until 5 p.m.. The flags are placed by church, veterans and community groups, and will remain in place through July 5.

The Field of Flags is designed to be a silent, patriotic and poignant reminder of the cost of war. A tribute to the military and veterans by area dignitaries will be followed by a dedication and interfaith Service in church sanctuary, conducted by members of the Westport/Weston Interfaith Council.

The list of casualties by state, will be displayed in the church narthex (vestibule) showing the name and rank of each American casualty. Also featured today will be flag-folding demonstration, a collection site for worn and tattered American flags to be properly disposed, and a place to write and send letters to military service members.
