FREDERICK U. WETZLER

He was born in New Haven, a son of the late S. Frederick and Marian (Ullman) Wetzler. A U. S. Army veteran, he served during World War II in the 272nd field artillery battalion.
Wetzler received his electrical engineering degree from the University of Bridgeport. While he was employed as an electrical engineer and technical writer, music was his passion. He was a well-known jazz pianist, associated with many big bands and some small jazz groups throughout Fairfield County.
Wetzler was a member of the Y's Men of Westport and the Hoot Owls Quartet, as well as Temple Israel of Westport. , He is survived by his wife, Joan Litsky Wetzler of Westport; his daughters, Amy Rosenblatt Rosoff and her husband, Charles of Westport, Jodi Rosenblatt Galin and her husband, Scott of Lexington, Mass., Lisa Rosenblatt Krigsman and her husband, Marc of Manhattan Beach, Calif.; and by his grandchildren, Heather and Benjamin Rosoff, Hannah and Rebecca Galin, and Jamie and EM-J Krigsman.
Wetzler was predeceased by his son, David, in 2008.
Funeral services took place Thursday, June 17, from Temple Israel in Westport. The Abraham L. Green and Son Funeral Home, 88 Beach Road, Fairfield, was in care of the arrangements.
