"Lips Together, Teeth Apart" -- a comedy involving two straight couples who spend a July weekend on Fire Island -- opened Tuesday at the Westport Country Playhouse, and the theater has several special events planned during its two-and-a-half week run.

On Thursday evening, the playhouse will host a "LGBT Night Out." The promotion includes a pre-play party at 6:30 p.m. for the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community and allies, followed by the show at 8 p.m. The party will include appetizers, adult beverages and live music.

A symposium after the Sunday matinee performance will feature the show's cast. Free and open to the public, the symposium is designed to provide insights into the production. It will be moderated by David Kennedy, the playhouse associate artistic director.

"A Young Professionals Farmers' Market Party" presented by WCP Young Professionals Network and the Westport Farmers Market is slated July 21. It will include a pre-show party in the theater's garden at 6:30 p.m., featuring appetizers, wine and music. The shows will follow at 8 p.m.

Backstage Pass on July 27 following the 2 p.m. matinee, will provide an opportunity to production staff, who will discuss the set -- from the swimming pool to moveable scenery, plus special effects.

Thursday Talkback on July 28 following the 8 p.m. performance, will be a question-and-answer session with the cast.
