Earthplace is accepting registrations for a newly created camp to be held in August that will allow children in grades seven through nine to learn about Long Island Sound.

The camp, led by Dick Harris, director of Earthplace's Harbor Watch program, will explore the differences between fresh water and salt water, discover different techniques of measuring water quality and offer special training by Harbor Watch scientists. Campers will also have the chance to experiment on water both outdoors and inside the Harbor Watch laboratory and will spend one day canoeing in Long Island Sound.

The camp, which costs $490 per camper, will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Aug. 6 to Friday, Aug. 10.

Registration forms are available at or at Earthplace, 10 Woodside Lane.
