Smart Kids with Learning Disabilities Inc., the Westport-based nonprofit organization, has planned a screening of the HBO documentary "The Big Picture: Rethinking Dyslexia" on Sunday, April 7, in the Town Hall auditorium.

The program is scheduled from 2:30 to 4 p.m. and includes a panel discussion after the film, the organization said.

Directed by James Redford, the 50-minute film has an official selection of the 2012 Sundance Film Festival.

It corrects misconceptions about dyslexia, Smart Kids said in a news release, and tells the story of Redford's son's "struggle and eventual triumph over" it.

The film also features the research of Drs. Sally and Bennett Shaywitz, both Yale University pediatric neurologists and co-founders of the Yale Center for Dyslexia and Creativity.

Sally Shaywitz will participate in the post-film panel discussion, along with members of a family featured in the film and others who will share their experiences, according to the release. Smart Kids encouraged parents to bring children in the fourth grade and older to the program.

Following the discussion, Sally Shaywitz will sign copies of her book "Overcoming Dyslexia," which will be available for sale.

Tickets to the program are $10 and available at: Tickets also are available by mailing checks payable "Smart Kids with LD" to 38 Kings Highway North, Westport, CT 06880
