Duron A. (Al) Dainwood, 67, of Westport, died Aug. 26, 2010, at the Rosenthal Hospice Residence in Stamford.

Born March 26, 1943, in Dallas, Texas, he was the son of the late Duron A. and Bessie (Smith) Dainwood. In 1971, he moved to Houston, where he performed as a guitarist and vocalist. A favorite from the Great American Songbook that he performed was "Here's that Rainy Day," by Jimmy Van Heusen and Johnny Burke. Mr. Dainwood's reputation extended from the East Coast to the Isle of Wight.

He moved to Connecticut in July to be near his sister.

He is survived by his sister, Sandra Wagenfeld of Weston; a daughter, Tiffanee Cook; a niece, Valerie Wagenfeld of California; cousins Gerald, Hansel and Joey Dykema of Houston, Texas, as well as cousins Phyllis McConnell, Jane Stephens and Bill McKnight.

Private burial took place Tuesday in Westport. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Rosenthal Hospice Residence, 100 Shelburne Road, Stamford, CT 06902.
