Joshua Gharis, 23, of Norwalk was charged at 8 p.m. June 24 on charges of possession of narcotics and drug paraphernalia.

Gharis was allegedly seen driving through a red light at the intersection of Post Road West and Sylvan Road. He was pulled over and the officer detected an odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle, police said. Gharis turned over a marijuana pipe that he had in the glove compartment and a further search of the vehicle revealed a packet of heroin and a bag containing syringe needles.

Gharis' bail was set at $500 and he is scheduled to appear July 6 in Norwalk Superior Court.
