John Bachelder, 54, of Woodbridge, was charged with driving under the influence early Saturday.

Bachelder was driving south on Saugatuck Avenue when his vehicle crossed the double-yellow traffic line twice, police said. He then entered Interstate 95 north, where he was stopped.

An officer reportedly smelled alcohol on Bachelder's breath. He failed field sobriety tests, police said.

Bachelder was charged with operating under the influence and failure to drive right. He was released on $500 bond, and is scheduled to appear Sept. 27 in Norwalk Superior Court.
