A car fire shut down one lane of traffic on Interstate 95 in Westport for approximately 45 minutes this morning.

The driver of the vehicle escaped injury, according to the Westport Fire Department, which responded to the scene between exits 17 and 18 shortly after 9 a.m.

The fire was quickly extinguished and the vehicle was towed off the highway just after 10 a.m.
