Robert Valle, 42, of Bridgeport, was charged Wednesday with driving under the influence after police said he failed to stop at a stop sign.
Valle was stopped ny an officer after he did not stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Green's Farms and Hales roads, police said. As the officer approached the driver-side window, he noticed a "distinct and pronounced" odor of alcohol, according to the report. Valle's eyes were "red and glassy and his speech was slow and very slurred," police said. He also failed a field sobriety test, police added.
Valle was charged with operating under the influence of drugs or alcohol and a stop-sign violation. He was released on $500 bond, and is scheduled to appear July 12 in Norwalk Superior Court.
