Dr. Embree F. 'Doc' Jarvis
Born Feb. 16, 1921, in Yonkers, N.Y., he was the son of the late Francis and Marion Jarvis. He attended the University of Pennsylvania, where he earned a doctor of dental surgery degree. He served in the Army during World War II and then settled in Westport, where he practiced dentistry for 49 years at 44 Elm St. While in Westport, he served as a deacon at Saugatuck Congregational Church; was president of the Rotary Club, and participated in the men's group of the YMCA. He was also a volunteer at Mease Countryside Hospital in Safety Harbor, Fla., from 2005 to 2009.
He was predeceased by his former wife, Katherine Jarvis.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include three children he had with his first wife, Peter W. Jarvis of Jacksonville, Fla., the Rev. David F. Jarvis and his partner Cameron Fadjo of Riverdale, N.Y., and Kelly Boardman and her husband Edward Boardman of Saint Johns, Fla.; stepchildren, Heidi Zimmer-Meyer and her husband Paul Meyer of Rochester, Eric Zimmer and his wife Irene Zimmer of Safety Harbor, and Roger Zimmer and his wife Lu Oliveira of Norwalk; 10 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
