Rocket, a neutered black dog with up-to-date immunizations, is available for adoption from Save our Strays in Westport. Rocket needs what he has never had, a permanent loving home.

Rocket was saved from a high-kill shelter in New York City, where he would have been put down for a neck injury. He was very wobbly on his back legs, but after receiving acupuncture, he has improved. Rocket also needs to wear a harness instead of a collar. He enjoys playing, running and cuddling. To watch a video of Rocket playing, visit

Save Our Strays, 1677 Post Road East, requires a prospective adopter to complete an application, interview with an adoption coordinator, and pay a $25 non-refundable deposit. The donation fees are $250 for dogs; $100 for adult cats; and $125 for kittens up to five months. All animals are current on age-appropriate immunizations and spayed or neutered before placement, unless their age or health requires it be done at a later time.
