Democrats, Republicans endorse town committee members

The endorsed members in each party will begin two-year terms in March. Both parties will also hold officer elections in March.
RTC Chairman Bob Zappi, who has served in that position since 2007, told the Westport News he will seek another term as chairman. DTC Chairman Jim Ezzes, who has served in that position since 2008, said he has been "encouraged by a significant number" of DTC members to continue to lead the committee.
The DTC endorsed 61 candidates during its Jan. 14 caucus for 70 available member seats on the committee. The RTC endorsed 33 candidates for 40 available seats. Another 16 Republicans, who are elected officials, also serve as ex-officio members of the RTC.
Following are the Democratic Town Committee members endorsed at the party's Jan. 14 caucus, selected from their respective Representative Town Meeting districts.
Members of the Republican Town Committee endorsed at the party's Jan. 10 caucuses from the town's nine Representative Town Meeting districts are:

RTC ex-officio members include: Board of Selectmen: Charlie Haberstroh; Board of Finance: Avi Kaner, Tom Lasersohn, Michael Rea and John Pincavage; Planning and Zoning Commission: Catherine Walsh, Jack Whittle, Chip Stephens and Al Gratrix; Board of Education: James Marpe, Michael McGovern and Jennifer Tooker; Zoning Board of Appeals: Bill Harris and Liz Wong; Board of Assessment Appeals: Garson Heller, and Registrar of Voters: Bob Lasprogato.
