Dora Franco Walsh, 86, of Westport, wife of the late John F. Walsh, died Aug. 1, 2010.

Born in the Southport section of Fairfield on Aug. 28, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Vincenzo and Rachele (Fuccella) Franco.

Walsh, who lived in Westport for most of her life, attended Westport schools and graduated from the American School of Design in New York City. She was a textile designer, an insurance salesperson and a telephone operator. She retired from the Southern New England Telephone Co. in 1986.

She was also a volunteer for the Girl Scouts, Project Return, Norwalk Hospital and her church.

Survivors include a sister, Lucy Klinga of Westport, as well as nephews and nieces Edward and Noreen Klinga of Fairfield, John Klinga of Westport, Thomas and Maria Klinga of Wilton, and Elizabeth Klinga of Vail,. Col., as well as their children, Vincent, Luke, Peter, Judith, Griffin, Philip and Michael.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10 a.m. Thursday at Assumption Church, 98 Riverside Ave. Burial will follow in Assumption Cemetery. The Harding Funeral Home, 210 Post Road E., is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Project Return, 124 North Compo Road, Westport, CT 06880 or Assumption Church.
