A Monroe woman, stopped after police said she failed to obey a traffic signal early last Thursday, faces a DUI charge.

Deborah Smith, 43, of Monroe Turnpike was charged with operating under the influence of drugs/alcohol.

After she was stopped for failing to obey the traffic signal, an officer detected a strong odor of alcohol, according to a police report.

Smith also failed roadside sobriety tests, police said. She was held on a $1,500 bond and is scheduled to appear April 7 in Norwalk Superior Court.
