A New York man faces charges after police said he fraudulently tried to transfer $30,000 from local bank accounts by posing as another individual Saturday.
The incident took place about 10:30 a.m. at the TD Bank on Post Road East, where the man -- later identified as Kurtney Murcan St. Ville, 26, of Brooklyn, N.Y. -- was "attempting to transfer $30,000 dollars to multiple accounts using another individual's identification," according to a statement issued by police.
St. Ville had left the bank before officers were called to the scene, police said, was found a short time later on Post Road East after a search by police and the local K-9 unit.
He was charged with first-degree identity theft, second-degree forgery, criminal impersonation and first-degree criminal attempt at larceny.
Bond for St. Ville was set at $20,000.
