Brian Turano, 39, of Bradley Lane, was charged Friday with accosting a child after driving under the influence.

Turano was seen driving erratically at The Mews close to where a small child was walking with a parent, police said.

At one point, according to the report, Turano egot out of his vehicle and spoke to the parent. He then began to chase the child who was accompanying the parent, police said.

When officers arrived, they smelled alcohol on Turano's breath, police said. After he was arrested, Turano resisted being placed in the rear of the patrol car and kicked the door of the patrol car, police said.

As he was being booked at police headquarters, Turano was "uncooperative and non-compliant" and began struggling with officers, police added.

Turano was charged with operating under the influence of drugs or alcohol, interfering with an officer, risk of injury to a child, and third-degree criminal mischief.

He was released on $9,000 bond and is scheduled to appear Aug. 9 in Norwalk Superior Court.
