The Westport Cinema Initiative will screen "Parental Guidance" -- the 2012 comedy written by former Westport resident Lisa Addario -- on Sunday afternoon, Oct. 20 in the Town Hall auditorium.

The show is planned at 4 p.m. Tickets are $10, and proceeds benefit the nonprofit cinema initiative, which is raising money to build a small movie house off Main Street.

"Parental Guidance" stars Billy Crystal and Bette Midler as a pair of old-school grandparents pressed into extended baby-sitting for their 21st-century grandkids when the helicopter parents are called out of town.

Crystal's character, "Artie," is a minor league baseball announcer who loses his job; he doesn't tweet. He and Midler's character are thrust into a computerized "smart house" for their baby-sitting gig.

Addario, who grew up in Westport, wrote the screenplay with her partner, Joe Syracuse.

After the film, Westport News film critic Susan Granger will moderate a discussion about the movie.
