A Middlebury woman was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol after police were dispatched to check on a disabled vehicle late Wednesday at the intersection of North Avenue and Cross Highway.

Officers arriving on the scene found Carolyn Laliberte, 48, of Upper Whitmore in Middlebury, behind the wheel and a strong odor of alcohol was detected, according to the report.

The vehicle, meanwhile, was outside the travel lane and on the shoulder and sidewalk area, police said. She failed field sobriety tests, police said. and was also charged with illegal parking.

Laliberte was unable to post $1,500 bond and is scheduled to appear Sept. 9 in Norwalk Superior Court.
