Brookfield teen hit with several charges

BROOKFIELD -- A 17-year-old driver was charged Saturday with driving under the influence, speeding, marijuana possession and two other crimes after a traffic stop on Elbow Hill Road.

Police said an officer spotted a car traveling north on Federal Road "at a very high rate of speed" at about 3 a.m.

Police caught up with the driver as the car pulled into a residence on Elbow Hill Road.

The driver failed a field sobriety test, police said. The driver was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and operating a motor vehicle between midnight and 5 a.m., which 17-year-olds are not supposed to do, according to state law.

The driver was released to a parent after posting $150 bail. The driver, whose sex and hometown were not divulged, is due in court Jan. 2.

Police did not release the driver's name.
