DANBURY -- A one-car crash on Interstate 84 sent a 40-year-old Bristol man to Danbury Hospital early Sunday. Robert Trelli, was in stable condition Sunday afternoon. State police said Trelli was driving west just after midnight when his car drifted off the highway, struck a bridge abutment and overturned. Trelli was trapped in the driver's seat of the vehicle, which came to rest in the center lane near the Westville Avenue Extension overpass, Danbury Fire Department Capt. Bernie Meehan said. Firefighters, using rescue tools from Rescue 23, were able to quickly pry the driver from the car, Meehan said. Trelli appeared to have suffered leg and pelvis injuries. State police said no other vehicles were involved in the accident. No charges have been filed and the crash remains under investigation.
