Elizabeth Hawley , 7, of Bridgewater recently won all-around first place with a 36.325 score for Level 4 at the Manhattan Classic gymnastics meet.

Along the way, she captured first place on balance beam at 9.275, grabbed second place with a 9.30 on the uneven bars and third place in floor exercise at 9.0.

She rounded out her performance with an 8.75 on vault.

Her scores contributed to a third-place finish for the Elite Gymnastics Center team from in New Milford.

Elizabeth followed up her performance in New York with an all-around score of 36.25 for a runnerup finish in the Rhode Island State Classic.


She will compete for the Connecticut State Cup in May.

Elizabeth prepped for the state competition by participating in recent meets in Windsor and Rhode Island.


The Bridgewater youth and her Elite teammates have been guided to this level by Olessya Vlasova, the club's head coach.

Mrs. Vlasova attained the level of Master of Sport, one of the highest honors bestowed on an athlete in her native Russia.

In addition, she is trained as an international judge.
