WESTPORT — A Bridgeport woman is facing a second wave of assault charges after police learned she assaulted another woman more than once following a January arrest, police said.

Police said Dulce Rios-Melendez, 19, of Bridgeport, was involved in a Jan. 26 incident in which she and a friend waited in a parking lot for another woman and attacked her over a money issue.

While investigating the assault, the victim told investigators it wasn’t the first time she had been physically accosted by Rios-Melendez.

Police said Rios-Melendez had pulled a similar stunt a few months earlier. Police said on Aug. 17, 2017, Rios-Melendez stalked the victim as she walked to her car after work. After confronting the victim about money, police said Rios-Melendez struck the victim multiple times in the face, causing minor injuries.

On Feb. 6, police picked up Rios-Melendez at the Norwalk Courthouse as she attended her arraignment for the initial incident.

Rios-Melendez was charged with third-degree assault, third-degree stalking and disorderly conduct. She was unable to post her $10,000 bond and was given a court date the following day.
