BRIDGEPORT — A woman was hit in the neck during a shooting on Birdsey Street early Monday morning, according to a city official.

Around 1 a.m., police responded to the 100 block of Birdsey Street after a 911 call of a shooting in the area, said Scott Appleby, the city’s director of emergency communications and emergency management.

Appleby said police also got two ShotSpotter gunfire notifications reporting multiple shots fired in that same Birdsey Street area.

Preliminary investigative information indicated a female victim was shot in the neck, Appleby said.

He said medics transported the victim to Bridgeport Hospital, but said there was no further information immediately available on the extent of her injuries later Monday morning.

Anyone with information is asked to call the tips line at 203-576-TIPS.
