WESTPORT — U.S. Lacrosse (Connecticut) has named GFA graduating senior Ingrid Backe of Fairfield to the All American team. Backe joins just 24 other athletes from Connecticut in receiving this nationwide recognition for their skill, leadership, and dedication to lacrosse. Backe is also an FAA Scholar Athlete, an All League selection, and WNESPC All Star selection. She heads to Colgate University this fall, and a few months ago signed her NCAA letter of intent to play lacrosse there.

According to varsity coach Missy Radin, "Ingrid Backe is the definition of an All American. She is a leader both on and off the field, in the classroom and in her community. She is the type of player that raises the level of play for everyone around her both teammates and opponents alike."

The last GFA athlete to receive this recognition was Reid Berrien '04, also for girls lacrosse.

Backe joins three other GFA student athletes who have been named FAA Scholar Athletes: Jack Mackle (New Canaan), lacrosse; Maggie Boudreau (Wilton), track; and Carmen Martin (Easton), track.
