Westport author Tommy Greenwald has published his third book in the "Charlie Joe Jackson" fiction series, which targets children ages 9 to 12 who are reluctant to read.

"Charlie Joe Jackson's Guide to Summer Vacation," was released May 7 by Roaring Brook Press, the publisher said in a news release.

In the book, the "lovable slacker" Charlie Joe is sent to a reading camp filled with grammar workshops, Read-a-Ramas and kids who like to read, the publisher said. Charlie tries to convince the entire camp to hate reading and writing -- one "genious" at a time.

Promotional material for the book asks, "Can he pull it off? Or will he -- gasp! -- turn into one of them!?"

Greenwald's previous Charlie Joe titles include "Charlie Joe Jackson's Guide to Not Reading" and "Charlie Joe Jackson's Guide to Extra Credit."
