Westport traffic will be disrupted Sunday as streets on the west side of town are part of the regional route for the annual 9/11 Memorial Motorcycle Ride.
The event, which starts at 11 a.m. at 10 Norden Place in Norwalk, heads north on Route 136 entering Westport at the intersection of Duck Pond Road and Saugatuck Avenue. It continues north on Saugatuck Avenue, then on Riverside Avenue, across the Post Road (Route 1) and up Wilton Road (Route 33) and into Wilton.
The ride will take place rain or shine.
The event has historically caused traffic problems on the west side of town, and police are warning residents to plan accordingly.
"Significant delays" are expected during the approximately 40 minute timeframe that the riders are in town, police said.
Police units will be stationed at major intersections in town to facilitate the ride.
