Three nonprofit arts groups in Westport have been awarded a total of more than $13,000 in grants from a state endowment, according to state Rep, Jonathan Steinberg, D-136.
The Connecticut Arts Endowment Fund has allocated $7,562 to the Westport Country Playhouse, $4,881 to the Westport Arts center and $826 to the Westport-based Music Theatre of CT, Steinberg said in a news release.
The state established the fund to stimulate development of private-sector funding and help maintain arts institutions.
According to the release, grants are calculated based on a formula that rewards organizations that report substantial increases in private-sector contributions during the prior year.
"Westport has long been a vibrant arts community," Steinberg said in the release. "I am pleased the state is investing in our thriving arts scene."
