Twenty-five Staples High School seniors have been named “Commended Students” in the 2016 National Merit Scholarship program.

A Letter of Commendation from the school and National Merit Scholarship Corp. will be presented to the following students who achieved that status:

Jordan Adler, Nicol Amato, Rees Chang, Claudia Chen, Devon Debalsi, Jason Garland, Aliza Gross, Joshua Hauser, Halley Jonas and Charles Krawiec.

Also, Maya Lawande, Yevgen Lensky, James Lewis, Jackson Livingstone, Arianna Markel, Vignesh Namasivayam, Joseph, Pravder and Douglas Raigosa.

And Julia Saveliff, Julia Schorr, Audrey Seo, Ethan Shenhar, Arun Soni, Jimmy Ray Stagg and Angela Yu.

Approximately 34,000 students throughout the nation are being recognized for their “exceptional academic promise” as commended students, according to a statement from the National Merit Scholarship Corp. They placed among the top 5 percent of more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2016 competition by taking the 2014 Preliminary SAT.
