Three nature walks are scheduled in Westport this weekend as part of the 22nd annual Connecticut Trail Days Weekend.

A walk Saturday afternoon at Earthplace and two on Sunday at Sherwood Island State Park are among 358 events statewide coordinated by the Connecticut Forest and Park Association.

At Earthplace on Saturday, a one-mile walk from 1 to 2 p.m. will trace the preserve's Swamp Loop Trail through swamp, forest and field and past a stream and pond. Animal life will be observed along the way. Earthplace is at 10 Woodside Lane.

At Sherwood Island on Sunday, a 1.5-mile "Archaeology of Sherwood Island Walk" is planned from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Along the park's History Trail, participants will examine past inhabitants of the area from the year 1000 to the 1940s. The hike will start at the park's nature center off East Beach. Directions can be obtained at the park entrance.

The park from 2 to 3 p.m. will offer a 2.5-mile "Beach to Beach Walk" that will include discussion of the features and history of Sherwood Island, Connecticut's first state park. The walk will begin at the nature center off East Beach.
