2 free programs on using web to grow business

A program on using the LinkedIn network to grow business and another on using Internet search-engine results for marketing are scheduled this month at the Westport Library.
Both programs are free and will take place in the McManus Room.
The LinkedIn program will take place Thursday, Feb. 13, from 6 to 8 p.m. Co-sponsored by the Fairfield County chapter of the volunteer business-mentoring group SCORE, it had been planned for Jan. 31, but was postponed.
Marc Halpert, of the Fairfield consultants group Connect2Collaborate, will discuss ways businesses can optimize LinkedIn. Topics will include renovating personal profiles, strategies for being found in a search, using advanced searches to find others, LinkedIn groups and answers to "how to" questions.
Online registration, recommended by the library, is being handled by SCORE at www.scorenorwalk.org.
The workshop on optimizing search engines for marketing is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 18, from 6 to 8 p.m. It also is co-sponsored by SCORE.
David Hoffman, of SearchSmart Marketing, will discusses search engine optimization with a beginner's guide. Topics will include getting to the top of Google results, local search, site structure and content, site relevance, keywords, inbound-link marketing and social media and search results.
