WESTPORT — A New York woman, allegedly connected to clothing stolen from a downtown merchant, turned herself in to police on Jan. 22.
After one woman stole over $300 in clothing from the merchant on Oct. 24, 2017, a second woman entered the store, returned the stolen items, and received a gift card for the items’ value. The woman who returned the items told the store employee her name was Kathy Deacon and a police investigation later confirmed Deacon’s identity.
Deacon, 65, turned herself in to Westport Police on an active arrest warrant and was charged with larceny and conspiracy to commit, both in the sixth degree. Deacon, of Hyde Park, N.Y., was released after posting a $25,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Court Feb. 2.
