WESTPORT — A Norwalk man was arrested by Westport police after attempting to shoplift at a local store, police said.

On Jan. 21 around 3:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to HomeGoods on the Post Road on a report of a shoplifter detained by loss prevention, who observed the suspect, later identified as Darryl Hall, 53, conceal sets of silverware inside his jacket and then exit the store without paying for the items, police said.

Loss prevention officers stopped Hall outside the store and asked him to return inside while the police were called. Upon arrival, officers took Hall charged him with sixth-degree larceny. He was released after posting a $500 bond and is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Court Feb. 14.
