WESTPORT — A Bridgeport man was charged with operating under the influence of drugs/alcohol and failure to obey control signals Sunday.
Around 1 a.m., an officer observed a vehicle traveling eastbound on Post Road West drive through the intersection with Route 33, despite the red traffic control signal. The vehicle then traveled through another red light at the intersection of Post Road East and Compo Road, police said.
The officer pulled over the driver, Peter Diaz, and spotted a bottle of alcohol in the cup holder of Diaz’s vehicle. Diaz, who failed field sobriety tests, was transported to police headquarters where he took a breath test that revealed him to be above the legal blood-alcohol limit for driving.
Diaz, 39, was released after posting $500 cash bond and is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Court Jan. 31.
