The Dish: JT dines in Greenwich days before Emmys
Scene… Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter and actor Justin Timberlake was seen decked out in a cap and black Tennessee sweatshirt while he enjoyed lunch at My Myx Creative Kitchen on West Elm Street in Greenwich on Tuesday afternoon. Timberlake and his wife, actress Jessica Biel, live in Westchester County, N.Y. Biel is nominated for an Emmy for her role as Cora Tannetti, a troubled wife and mother, in the USA drama “The Sinner.” The 70th Annual Emmy Awards will be shown on NBC at 8 p.m. Monday.
Out there… The Fred Astaire Dance Studio of Greenwich is holdings its first annual Dancing Stars of Greenwich Charity Dance Competition & Gala to benefit Abilis. The dancers will step off at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, at the Tamarack Country Club in Greenwich. The star-studded celebrity dance competition will feature Fred Astaire instructors paired with dancers from the community, including former actress Afton Fraser of Greenwich. Fraser, known for her roles in “Reality Bites,” “George of the Jungle” and “Fried Green Tomatoes,” is the former wife of actor and Greenwich resident Brendan Fraser of Greenwich. Together, they share three sons, Holden, Leland and Griffin, who has autism. Others dancing for Abilis include Greenwich residents Rita Mirella Lurito and Lenna Andreou; and Old Greenwich resident Dr. Lisa Colpit. The gala will also include a VIP cocktail reception, a gourmet dinner, live music by Hot Cat Jazz Band, special performances by the Fred Astaire dancers, and live and silent auctions. Honored… Greenwich native and former First Selectman John Margenot was honored in Greenwich on Sept. 8 for his continued service and dedication to the Town of Greenwich. A large crowd of friends, family and city and state officials, including state Sen. L. Scott Frantz, First Selectman Peter Tesei and Chief of Police James Heavey, came out to honor the former five-term first selectman to celebrate the naming of the John B. Margenot Atrium at the Greenwich Public Safety Complex in downtown Greenwich, which houses both the police and fire departments, in his honor.
Out there… The Greenwich Wine + Food Festival will dish up all things delicious on Friday, Sept. 21, and Saturday, Sept. 22, at Roger Sherman Park in Greenwich. Opening Night will feature a Master Chef Wine Dinner honoring chef Alex Guarnaschelli for her innovation and contributions to the culinary world. The dinner, co-hosted by “Howard Stern Show” producer Gary Dell’Abate of Riverside and writer/director Rob Burnett of Greenwich, will feature the Most Innovative Chefs serving their gourmet cuisine alongside curated wines and cocktails. There will also be a performance by CCB Reggae All Stars. “Today” co-host Kathie Lee Gifford of Riverside will moderate the Meet the Masters Panel on Saturday, which also includes cooking demos by culinary celebrities Daniel Boulud, Scott Conant, Alex Guarnaschelli, Adam Richman and “Next Food Network Star” Christian Petroni; book signings; and a performance by singer-songwriter Caroline Jones, a Greenwich native. The event closes with a concert by country music superstar Tim McGraw. Proceeds benefit the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, the Town of Greenwich Parks & Recreation Foundation and Ment’or.
