Greenwich firefighters stop spread of tractor-trailer fire
GREENWICH — Town firefighters stopped a tractor-trailer fire from spreading to the machinery it was towing and limiting damage, according to fire officials.
Three fire engines and two other fire units responded to Riversville Road on Tuesday afternoon for a reported tractor-trailer fire, according to fire officials.
Arriving units found a fire on a tractor-trailer that was towing heavy machinery. Firefighters on Engine 4, the first unit at the scene, confirmed a fully involved blaze, officials said.
The driver of the truck was not harmed and had gotten out of the vehicle by the time first responders arrived, fire officials said.
“An aggressive fire attack stopped the fire from spreading to the excavator being towed, limited fire damage to only the tractor-trailer’s cab,” fire officials said. “No injuries were reported.”
