Fundraiser started for funeral of man fatally shot on Valentine’s Day
BRIDGEPORT - A GoFundMe page has been started for the Phillip Ingram, the 57-year-old Bridgeport man who was fatally shot on Valentine’s Day last Friday.
Police said that Ingram called 911 just minutes prior to being fatally wounded in the 800 block of Kossuth Street .
The city’s 911 service took a call at 9:03 a.m. Friday from a man who told the call-taker that a person got into a “verbal altercation” with him and brandished a weapon in the area of Arctic and Jane streets.
The caller, police said, then followed the individual with the weapon.
“It seems that the victim had called 911 reporting a verbal altercation with another party when that party brandished a weapon,” Scott Appleby, director of emergency management/communications and homeland security, said last week.
On Wednesday, the victim’s sister, Charlene Ingram-Carmichael created a GoFundMe campaign that seeks to raise $8,000 to pay for her brother’s funeral.
“I am Phillip's younger sister. As you know we lost a very special person in all of our life,” she said on the page.
“My brother Phillip Ingram to a devastating & senseless act of gun violence. Now that he’s gone please help his loving family lay him to rest with a donation of any amount will help.”
She said. “we are all absolutely devastated by Phillip's untimely death which includes his family and friends. Based on the research of the expenses or quotes we have received thus far for his funeral. We will need to pay all funeral expenses by Feb. 21, 2020. I’ve started a fundraiser to collect donations for Phillip's funeral service.
“This is real and not a scam. I'm a true and honest person. We will let everyone know when the details of the funeral will take place once we finalize all of the arrangements.”
As of Thursday morning, nearly $2,000 of the $8,000 goal.
