Missing Bridgeport woman dies after being found alive, officials say
BRIDGEPORT — Although found alive, a Bridgeport woman who was missing for a week has died.
The Bridgeport Emergency Operations Center tweeted an update on the condition of Teresa Zangrilli, saying she was very weak when she was found.
The death of the 84-year-old who suffered from Alzhiemer’s disease and diabetes was announced a little less than an hour after Bridgeport Police expressed hope when Zangrilli was found alive.
“FOUND!” in all caps led a Bridgeport Police tweet that Zangrilli had been located.
Zangrilli had last been seen Oct. 18 and was the subject of searches on foot, using police dogs, and via helicopter.
“She is currently being transported to the hospital,” Bridgeport Police tweeted, promising more information shortly.
The search expanded Tuesday and Wednesday, with a state police K-9 unit and helicopters searching the North End of Bridgeport near the Trumbull line.
Thursday, police with helicopters searched the area around Elton Rodgers Park, north of the Trumbull Mall.
