WESTPORT - Firefighters quickly extinguished a fire that was found in the wall of a Turkey Hill Lane house Tuesday night.

Assistant Chief Jeffrey Gootman said the call for a structure fire came in at 8:32 p.m.

“The department responded with four engines, a ladder truck, and the shift commander. Arriving units found a smoke in the basement and first floor,” Gootman said in a release.

“After further investigation, a fire was found in a wall on the first floor. Access was made to the walls and the fire was quickly extinguished.”

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Westport Fire Marshal’s Office.

Westport Police and Westport EMS assisted on scene.

Mutual aid station coverage was provided by the Wilton and Fairfield Fire Departments during the incident.
