Westport Library to host talk on juvenile bipolar disorder
Dr. Demitri Papolos, researcher and author, will talk about juvenile bipolar disorder at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 5, in the McManus Room of Westport Public Library, 20 Jesup Road.
Papolos, who is director of research at the Juvenile Bipolar Disorder Foundation, will provide an overview of this disorder and outline how far research has traveled in unraveling the genetic and biological sources of this illness. He will discuss new treatments he has developed and introduce "The Child Bipolar Questionnaire" for parents, which can be filled out and brought to the child's own local doctor or classroom teacher.
The event will be co-sponsored by the Fairfield and Stamford/Greenwich chapters of the National Alliance on Mental Illness and Southwest Regional Mental Health Board. Light refreshments will be served.
